Mr. Edward Joseph Davis, known fondly as "Eddy," age 50, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012.

Mr. Davis was a native Delawarean, born in Wilmington on September 29, 1962, son of the late Albert J. "Buzzy" Davis and Helen M. Porter Davis.

He was a graduate of Delcastle High School. A US Marine Corps veteran, he proudly served his country on active duty for four years and as a reservist for two. During his military service, he was deployed on international peacekeeping missions to such areas of conflict as Grenada, Bosnia, and Lebanon. In civilian life, Mr. Davis apprenticed with his father and became a master carpenter employed with his family's company, A.J. Davis Construction.
Mr. Davis had a variety of interesting hobbies throughout his life. He collected model trains, scale excavators, and cranes, as well as many types of guns (he was an expert marksman). A talented guitarist, he appreciated all kinds of music and collected albums of his favorite recording artists. He was also active in Civil War historical reenactments for many years. He was a talented cook--his specialty was fried chicken--and enjoyed riding both dirt bikes and horses. He loved animals and cared deeply for his many pet dogs and cats over the years. A devoted family man and "Pop Pop" above all else, he treasured time spent with his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William "Fuzzy" Davis and Richard A. Davis. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Cheryl L. Brooks Davis; daughter, Kristin M. Davis of New Castle; son, Albert J. "AJ" Davis and daughter-in-law Jessica of Middletown; sisters, Deborah A. Sullivan and Dianne M. Davis-Lopez, both of New Castle; grandchildren, Aaden J. and Ethan N. Davis and Theresa M. Younger; and many nieces and nephews, including Robert Fitzgerald, Paul Sullivan, and Daniel Sullivan, with whom he lived.

Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, October 29th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 9:45 am on Tuesday, October 30th, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804.
