Harry R. Howell, 94, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (March 22, 2006) at Southeastern Med., following a long bout with emphysema. He was born
July 8, 1921, in Knox Township, son of the late John F. Howell and Verna Bell Howell. Mr. Howell was supervisor for the Ohio Power Co., having retired on Aug. 1, 1980. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran, having served during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Cambridge, Big Indian Gun Club, and a life member of the NRA. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Howell; and a sister, Mary L. Jirles. He leaves his wife, Gloria Jirles Howell of Cambridge, whom he married Oct. 25, 1947; two daughters, Carolyn (Charles Siegfried) and Kathy (Donn) Young, both of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Kurtis and Kris Sigfried and Rochele Benson; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. No calling hours will be observed. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Guernsey Memory Gardens with the Rev. William Johnson officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veteran Council. Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, is handling the arrangements.
