Harley Smith "Fuzzy" Ames of Springfield, who died Oct. 23 of age-related causes. He was 92.

He was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Latimer, Okla., to Morgan and Amanda Davis Ames. He married Mayme Lorraine Dupont on Sept. 21, 1940, in Wilberton, Okla.

He attended school through the sixth grade. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Germany and France. He was a finish blade operator in heavy road construction for more than 20 years, retiring in 1983.

Survivors include his wife; a son, David of Mossyr­ock, Wash.; two daughters, Carolyn Dudley of Springfield and Barbara St. Clair of North Carolina; a sister, Mildred Nole of White City; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
