Obituary:
"Last Rites for Mrs. Chalcraft held Yesterday Mrs. Bertha Chalcraft, 84, mother of Police Magistrate H.B. Chalcraft of this city, died following a brief illness Sunday morning. Mrs. Chalcraft, who had been employed as housekeeper for W.D. Stewart here for several years had arisen as usual and eaten her breakfast. She was stricken not long afterwards.
Daughter of George and Laura Mann Smith, deceased was born in Edwards County Sept 20, 1870 and her entire life was spent here. She was married to George Chalcraft who preceded her in death in 1924. She was also preceded in death by a son George in 1944 and a daughter Elizabeth.
Surviving are the son Herbert B., 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She also leaves 2 sisters, Mrs. Kate Simms of Albion and Mrs. Lizzie Sims of Morrison Co, and 3 brothers, Sam and George of Albion and William of Detroit.
Funeral services were held at Nales Funeral Home yesterday afternoon at 2:00, Rev. J.J. Walker officiating. Interment was at Graceland. "
