His wife Mary Taylor died April 15 1789.
While living in Union District S.C., he was drafted in 1781 and served under Capts. Duff, Jolly, Majs. Farr and Mc Junkin and Col. Brandon. He served 51 days as a Quatermaster. His next tour of 6 months in the same unit under General Morgan at Grindal Shoals. (Patriot Index Supplement; A.A.3699; X789).
His brother Capt. Aquilla was killed at the side of him and Maj. McJunkin at the battle of Cow Pens.
Elias lived in Union Dist. on Broad River in 1781, then lived in Newberry Dist. in 1790 with 5 sons and 1 daugther.
Elias died in Pendleton Dist. S.C. after 1800.
