While living in Worcester Massachusetts in the late 1920's after the family returned from New Jersey she was trained as an operator by her sister in law Elizabeth McCarthy to be a telephone operator for The Evening Gazette newspaper.
She was active in the 1940's and 1950's with the Parents Group of the Palm Beach Crippled Children's Society in Palm Beach County Florida.
She served on the faculty of the Royal Palm School in West Palm Beach for many years. In June 1960 she unveiled a plaque at the school honoring the coordinator of the Palm Beach County Program for Exceptional Children Marjorie Davis Crick who had run the program since 1942.
