from a newspaper:

AUBLE, Hugh L-30, Elmira is dead, second victim within 6 weeks at the dangerous bridge over South Creek at Fassett. He was pinned beneath his truck-tractor, Friday, Dec. 26, 1947 at about 11 pm and drowned in about two feet of water. With him was his brother-in-law, Robert Slaughter, 29, who lives in the Auble home and has been associated with Mr. Auble in the trucking business. The men were taken to the St Joseph Hospital, Elmira. After thirty-five minutes of work with the respirator, Mr. Auble was pronounced dead. Mr. Slaughter is in fair condition at the hospital but is thought that he has a bad condition in his left chest. The truck-trailer, minus the trailer was driving this way and it is thought that the men did not see the sharp curve until too late and skidded off the road, over the bank and into the creek. On the scene artificial respiration was given by Perry Klinger, Jr, Elmira, former Troy boy, who was visiting in Fassett. Peter Shedden, Fassett, righted the truck with his farm tractor. Mr. Auble leaves one child and five stepchildren.
