Jane Rust Kent died peacefully and with dignity on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Beaumont at Bryn Mawr. Mrs. Kent was born and raised in Washington, D.C. and spent her summers in Christmas Cove, Maine. She attended the Madeira School in McLean, Virginia and Sarah Lawrence College and was graduated from Goucher College. Mrs. Kent married William Irwin Kent of Philadelphia and Sea Island, Georgia on March 31, 1942 at the National Cathedral where her parents are interred. Mr. Kent was president of Kent Manufacturing Company, maker of fine woolens. Mr. and Mrs. Kent were members of Merion Golf Club, Philadelphia Country Club, and were members of the Sea Island Club. Mrs. Kent was an accomplished sailor and artist and a recreational golfer. Mrs. Kent was predeceased by her husband on March 18, 1992. She was also predeceased by her grandmother, Josephine Wheelwright Rust, restorer of George Washington's home, Wakefield, in Virginia; her parents, Mildred Anderson Rust and H. L. Rust II of Washington, D.C. and Christmas Cove, Maine; her brother, H. L. Rust, III of Washington, D.C.; Mr. Kent's parents, Helen Irwin Kent and Everett Leonard Kent and Mr. Kent's brother, Everett Leonard Kent, Jr., all of Philadelphia; and Mr. Kent's brother, Warren Thompson Kent, of Greenville, S.C. Survivors include Mr. and Mrs. Kent's children and spouses, William Irwin Kent, Jr. of Belfast, Maine; Gwinn Graham Kent of Perkiomenville, Pa.; Alden Rust Kent and his wife Elizabeth Lucile Kent, of Charlottesville, Va.; and Eben Lee Kent and his wife, Jeanne, of Columbus, Ohio. Also surviving are grandchildren Shirah Graham Keller of Shelbyville, Tenn.; Alden Schuyler Keller of Valdosta, Ga.; Sarah Kathryn Kent and David Eben Kent of Oakland, Maine; William Sanders Kent of Somerville, Mass.; and Harry Rust Kent and Theodore Everett Kent of Columbus, Ohio; and one great grandson, Tristen James Keller. A celebration of Mrs. Kent's life was held on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Beaumont at Bryn Mawr, 601 North Ithan Avenue, Bryn Mawr. Interment was at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Gladwyne, PA.
