Paul L. (Jake) Smith
Paul L. (Jake) Smith, 66, of Greenfield, died unexpectedly at his residence Sunday morning, August 6, 2000.
He was born on March 15, 1923, in Greenfield, the son of William and Georgia Ann Amore Smith.
He was a retired superintendent of Greenfield Cemetery, a member of the U. S. Army and a veteran of the Korean Conflict, a Life Member of Paint Aerie #1325, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Greenfield Post #4736.
He was married to Joyce Penn Smith on March 16, 1962. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Cheryl (John) Saxour of New Holland, Kelly (David) Murray of Hillsboro; five sons, Charles Smith of Cincinnati, Steve Smith of Washington Court House and Jeff Smith, Paul R. Smith and Eric (Amber) Smith, all of Greenfield; ten grandchildren, two sisters, Eileen Daugherty of Greenfield, Winifred Sumner of Florida and two brothers, Gerald Smith of Good Hope and Kenneth Bennett of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Smith and by 15 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 9 at 2 P.M. at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home in Greenfield.
Rev. Robert K. Blaine will officiate.
Burial will take place at the Greenfield Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 P.M. on Tuesday, where an Eagles Lodge service will be held at 8 P.M. and a V.F.W. Service will be held at 8:30 P.M.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Highland County Honor Guard.
