Adrienne Tara Egan, 19, a Reston resident and sophomore at Virginia Commonwealth University, died Nov. 2 in a fall from the roof of a building in Richmond's residential Fan District. A Richmond police spokesman said the death was accidental.
A 1990 graduate of Madison High School in Vienna, Miss Egan had lived in Fairfax County since she was five. She was born in Tampa.
In 1985 she was an award winner in the Johns Hopkins Math and Verbal Talent Search. She was a member of the McLean Youth Orchestra for five years and, in her senior year at Madison, was on a poetry team that placed third in a state competition.
Survivors include her mother, Diana L. Smith of Reston; her father, Daniel C. Egan of Ithaca, N.Y.; and her grandparents, Wayne Smith and Virginia Smith of McLean and Paul Egan and Mary Egan of Owego, N.Y.
