had been in bad health for over four years. For the last two weeks his death was
expected. Mr.Smith was 61 years of age, and had lived in Jackson County for 17 years. He was a man of many admirable qualities, honest, upright and generous, faithful to his friends and considerate of the rights of others.
He was a faithful and loyal member of the Missionary Baptist Church and believed in living and practicing christianity, his neighbors and friends delighted to know him. He leaves a widow, and ten children; five boys; Walter, Bob, Haskel, John and Bruce; five girls; Mrs. Mona Sampson, Mrs. Jessie Vest, Mrs. Jim Keys, and Rachel and Greathen, and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
We join the many friends of Mr.Smith in expressing our profound sorrow over his death and extend our sympathy to his loved ones in this extreme dark hour of bereavement.Mr Smith was buried at Caperton's grave-yard at the tip-top of Sand Mountain,on last Thursday afternoon.
He was a farmer all his life. It was hard to give him up. But we all have a debt to pay.
