Willa Anne was the daughter of William and Frances Whaley Cary. She was born 2 months after the death of her father.

On September 14, 1837 she married Johnson Webb Cofer, in Sacramento. His brother Ransom Daniel was married to Willa's sister Belle.

This couple had one son George, born June 25, 1874 in Woodland, Yolo Co. Calfornia. Tragedy be fell this family when, Johnson died at from an abcess leg at the age of 39yrs.

Willia later married for a second time to Arthur E. Chase. They continued to live in the Red Bluff area until her death in 1920.
