Joseph Keller was born in Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in 1830 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ella Wilson, in the city of Chicago, November 14, 1912. On the 29th of February, 1851, he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Malloy. They moved to Wisconsin in 1868 and settled on a farm just out of Edgerton, and for the past 44 years he has been a resident of this vicinity. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Keller, three of whom survive. They are Mrs. E. S. Hatch of Edgerton, Mrs. Frances Mosier of Michigan, and Mrs. Ella Wilson of Chicago. Mr. Keller is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Allen of Stoughton, ten grandchildren and a number of other relatives and a large circle of friends. His granddaughter, Bessie Keller, has been a member of the home most of her life. Early in the summer Mr. Keller went to Chicago for an extended visit with his daughter and family. While there he met with an accident which confined him to bed and on last Thursday he quietly pased to the great beyond at the age of 83 years. He was a quiet man and much devoted to his family. A note: Bessy Keller is the mother of Rodney K. Peterson. She ended up living with Mrs. Willison after Joseph died. This info from Francis Gumble (Keller / Peterson). Bessie was actually Joseph's niece, not his granddaughter. The children of John Smith Keller were given to the family to raise after their mother had died.
