VICTORIA - Abel De Los Santos Barrera Sr., 63, of Victoria, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012. He was born December 16, 1948 in Robstown to Jose Lopez Barrera and Santos De Los Santos Barrera of Victoria. He was a Catholic and retired from Union Carbide as an electrical technician. He was also a member of the VFW, CWV, Veterans of Foreign Affairs, and Vietnam Veterans.

He is survived by his parents; wife, Teri De Leon Barrera of Victoria; daughter, Kathleen Barrera of Victoria; son, Abel Barrera Jr. of Victoria; sisters, Irma Sanchez (Richard) of Victoria and Belinda De La Rosa (Joe) of Victoria; numerous nieces and nephews; and the love of his life, grandson, Isaiah N. Vasquez.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Barrera; and niece, Isabel Gonzalez.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Artero Memorial Chapels. Visitation will resume from 8 - 9:30 a.m. at Atero Memorial Chapels before a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Burial with full military services will be held under the auspices of the Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV,
VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA, and the KWV at Resurrection Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Abel Barrera Jr., Oscar Ortiz, Richard Sanchez, John Flores, Joe De La Rosa, Dr. Jesse De Leon, Chilo Barrera, and Bobby Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearer: Isaiah N. Vasquez.
