Evelyn J. Beard, 79, Jefferson City (Missouri), died June 19, 1999, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics. She was born March 30, 1920, in Eldon, Iowa, a daughter of Curran B. and Dora V. Bates Armstrong.
She was married March 6, 1967 in Dundas, Minn., to Raymond R. Beard, who survives at their home.

She was a graduate of Washburn High School and attended Minnesota Business College, both in Minneapolis. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Deaconess Hospital, Minneapolis, for several years.

A resident of the Jefferson City area for the past 10 years, she was a nurse's aide at Heisinger Lutheran Retirement Home and Oak Tree Villa Retirement Center. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Other survivors include: three sons, Norman H. Hennan, Billings, Mont., David M. Hennan, Elk River, Minn., and James R. Hennan, Farmington, Minn.; one daughter, Patricia C., Vasquez, Covina, Calif.; two stepsons, Robert J. Beard,
Minneapolis and Larry E. Beard, Oklahoma City; one stepdaughter, Vicky L. Ransford, Greenfield; eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.

Private graveside services will be held in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Minneapolis.
