Earl N. LUTES, 76, of Elm Drive, Marcellus, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2002, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Indiana.

Earl was born on December 29, 1925 in Mishawaka, Indiana, as the son of the late Herchel and Garnet (ROSE) LUTES.

On September 24, 1949, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, Earl married the former Ruth J. STEINHAUSER. Earl is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Michael LUTES of South Bend; three sisters, Marion REIHL of Mishawaka, Margorie WAIDNER of Morrow, Ohio, and Norma HOWARD of Mishawaka; and by five nieces and seven nephews.

He was self-employed; owning Earl Lutes Construction for 40 years. Earl was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country during World War II.

Friends called from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday May 25, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Earl's name be made to the St. Labre Indian School Building Fund, Ashland, Montana.
