William J. Hughes, a retired vice president of William H. Lynch Inc., Shoe store, Syracuse, died July 21 in a local convalescent home after an illness of several months. Mr. Hughes, who lived at 118 Parkway Dr., Syracuse, was associated with the Lynch Co. 40 years, retiring in 1950. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Anthony of Padua Church, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. For many years he sang in St. Lucy’s choir. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Katherine N. Hughes; three sons, Dominick P. Hughes of Liverpool, William J. Hughes Jr. of Central Square and Robert J. Hughes of Chittenango; a daughter, Mrs. Robert H. Burton of Lockport; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Jacob Armbruster of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at 8:15 a.m. July 24 in the J. P. Bums Funeral Home, Syracuse and at 9 a.m. in St Anthony of Padua Church. Burial was in St Agnes Cemetery
