Louis D. Campbell was an attorney with Campbell & Powell, and former mayor of Tacoma, Washington at the time his death. He had been elected mayor in 1900. He died of heart failure while traveling in California with his wife, Emma Elliott Campbell, and their adopted daughter Laura Campbell (later Laura Campbell Krause). Following a funeral in Tacoma his remains went to Pennsylvania for burial in the family plot.
