Edith C. Bakalis, 91, of Forest Hill, died at 5:15 P.M. Friday at the Raleigh General Hospital at Beckley, following a long illness.

Born October 5, 19114 at Pipestem, she was the daughter of the late James Richards and Nettie Martin Richards Buckland.

Mrs. Bakalis had lived the early part of her life in Summers Co. She lived in Washington D.C. for most of her adult life and retired to Summers Co. in 1973. She was a retired seamstress and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, John Demetrius Bakalis.

Survived by one daughter; Teresa (Terri) Phelps of Bethesda, MD, two grandsons; Derek Phelps and John-Thomas Valanidas and one half-sister; Sibyl Bishop of Ballard.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hinton with Rev. John N. Duhaime as Celebrant.

Her cremains will be interred in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Washington D.C. at a later date. There will be no visitation.
