Dorothy Maxine Rucker met Emil Wayne Martin at end of WW II on a blind date and they quickly fell in love. They met in August then married December 24, 1945 in Fort Smith Arkansas at Emil's parents home. Shortly afterwards they moved to Ringwood Oklahoma where they had one daughter and five sons. One of their sons, David Bruce, died in infancy.
Dorothy loved traveling and with her family, moved to Topeka Kansas, then to Benson Arizona and finally to Alma Arkansas. She was wonderful mother to her children and loved every moment raising them. Dorothy was also a great cook and worked at Ozark Truck Plaza in Alma until she retired. She was a devoted member of Mountain View United Methodist Church and a Mountain View 4-H club leader.
Dorothy was very active in her community up until she fell and broke her hip about a year before she died.

Dorothy Maxine Martin, 87, of Alma, AR, died Monday, October 29, 2012 in Fort Smith, AR. She was born March 9, 1925 in Enid, Oklahoma to Bert and Edith Rucker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Wayne Martin, Sr.
She was a retired cook at Ozark Truck Plaza in Alma, AR, member of Mountain View United Methodist Church and Mountain View 4-H club leader.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Margo of AR; four sons, Emil of OK, Edwynn of MO, Wendell of AR and Thomas of AR; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 2, 2012 at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, AR under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren, AR.
