She was a member of New Hope Pentecostal Church. Lenora was born May 10, 1920, in Old Hickory, Tenn. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her most treasured moments in life were spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Charles Schultte Bishop, who died Aug. 23, 2008; her parents, Walter and Enolia Travis Batson; three brothers, Paul Batson, Bernie Batson and Billy Batson; and three sisters, Estelle Young, Margaret Batson and Jeanette Berry.
Survivors include four daughters, Ann Andrews and her husband, Bill, Judy Bosse and her husband, Ron, and Sheila Gray and her husband, Bob, all of Henderson, and Debbie Slaughter and her husband, Keith, of Lexington; one son, Bernie Bishop and his wife, Brenda, of Henderson; two sisters, Bernice Burch and Shirley Flippo, both of Madison, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Denise Lyles, Kirk Carter, Brian Melton, Michelle Griffin, Mendy Brann, Chastity Jacobs, Cade Slaughter, Michael Bishop and Brea Gray; eight stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Rev. Tony Payne will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to New Hope Pentecostal Church.
Pallbearers will be Kirk Carter, Brian Melton, Cade Slaughter, Jason Brann, Ryan Lyles and Craig Jacobs.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Bishop and Carl Slaughter.
