Pearson, James b. October 2, 1822 d. January 23, 1900 Indian Mutiny Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Rathdowney, Ireland, he served as a Private, in the 86th Regiment of Foot, British Army. On April 3, 1858, Private Pearson was a member of the storming on the attack on Jhansi, India. He attacked a number of armed rebels, one of whom he killed and bayoneted two others. He also brought in a wounded comrade under a heavy fire with himself being wounded in the attack.
