Culberson, Leon b. August 6, 1919 d. September 17, 1989 Professional Baseball Player. The right-handed-hitting Boston Red Sox outfielder was best remembered for being in the spotlight in Game 7 of the 1946 World Series. He entered the game in the eighth inning as a pinch runner for Dom DiMaggio, who was injured while hitting a two-run double to tie the score at 3-3. In the bottom of the inning he replaced the superior fielding DiMaggio in center field.
