Kozłowiecki, Cardinal. Adam b. April 1, 1911 d. September 28, 2007 Roman Catholic Cardinal. A native of Huta Komorowska, then part of the Austrian Empire, Adam Kozłowiecki came from a noble family. Entrusted to a private school in Poznań after showing a particular interest in the Society of Jesus while attending their school in Chyrów, he soon renounced his title and noble heritage to join the Jesuit Fathers, which he did in Stara Wies on July 30, 1929, beginning his novitiate year in Borzozów. Mazombwe, Cardinal. Medardo Joseph b. September 24, 1931 d. August 29, 2013 Roman Catholic Cardinal. Born in Katete, located in the Eastern Province of Zambia, one of eight siblings, he completed the necessary requirements for the priesthood and was ordained in 1960. He served as the Archbishop of Lusaka from 1971 until 2006. In 2010, he was elevated by Pope Benedict XVI to the status of Cardinal and held the distinction as being Zambia's first indigenous Cardinal. (Bio by: C.S.)
