I am the only child of Jimmie Sidney Singleton and Dotsey Belle Frensley. Shortly after Daddy died in 1997, I began researching my paternal family lines of SINGLETON, PEVETO, STRAHAN, STEPHENSON, TEVIS and PATTILLO, along with my maternal lines of FRENSLEY, LAUDERDALE and DAY. I wish I had asked more questions of my parents before they died because I knew very little about my ancestors beyond my grandparents. I have learned that I have a rich heritage of hardy people who were true civic-minded pioneers and who helped establish my hometown of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas. Others led interesting and active lives in Limestone County, Texas, Orange County Texas, and Southwest Louisiana. My genealogical research has resulted in a passionate interest in the cultural history of these areas. I am a member of the Southwest Louisiana Genealogical Society and the Southeast Texas Genealogical Society. I am joined in my research by cousins on both sides of my family.
