Bio
Michael Brownell is the grandson of Emilia Justina Rislachius (AKA Emma Risla Browne Applegren) who was born in Isokyro, Finland and emigrated to the USA through Ellis Island in 1896. Emma is interred at Brownsville Cemetery. Michael serves as President of the Brownsville Cemetery Historic Preservation Association. His father, the late Lawrence A. Browne (changed to Brownell in 1934), was Secretary-Treasurer of the Brownsville Cemetery Association during the 1920's and 1930's.
Emma married Ralph Peckham Browne about 1900; they lived on Grahns Lane NE in Brownsville and were owners of the Rose Hill Poultry and Fruit Store (see Kitsap County Atlas, 1909). She later married Oscar Applegren and had a son "Baby Applegren" (possibly Oscar Ansel Applegren) who is also buried at Brownsville Cemetery.
