I was born in Enid, Oklahoma 1/31/39 to Ivan E. Armstrong and Zella(h) L. (Melott) Armstrong. The third son of four boys, Lloyd Reid, Bruce Alton, Alan Kent and Dennis Floyd Armstrong. All reared in Medford, Oklahoma. My father was Postmater in Medford, my Mother was a housewife.

My grandfather James Armstrong and wife Libby (Pettenger)Armstrong, Homesteaded near Ringwood, Oklahoma Territory in the Run of 1893. My Grandfather had 10 siblings. He was born near Steward, Lee County, Illinois. My grandparents proved up on the claim, later selling it and moving to Lamont, OK and later Medford, OK where they both resided at the time of their death.

I graduated from Medford, OK High School, 1957. 'Attended Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK, graduating in 1963 from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva, OK in 1963, BS in Economics and Business Administration. I also attended one year of Phillips University Graduate Seminary, Enid, OK.

I am married to Shirley (Blue) Armstrong. Shirley grew up in Vancouver, WA. She is the daughter of Warren S. and Mildred E. (Grant) Blue who were born and reared near Alva and Capron, OK.

We had 3 children, Alan Kent., Jr., Kyle Edward, Corey Grant, and adoped Sondra Gayle and Jacqualin D. Armstrong. Son's Alan and Kyle are deceased.

I retired from the Enid, Oklahoma Office of the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission in January 2001 after 36 years of service.

We own a home near Nash, Oklahoma. However, we lived in McKinney, TX for nearly 20 years. We returned to Oklahoma in May 2020, currently resided in Golden Oaks Retirement Village, Enid, Oklahoma.
