I got interested in genealogy back in 1977 when I was given a choice to do a term paper or genealogy...this was senior year of HS when ROOTS was a big hit....since then, I have found my Moms Pittsburgh relatives via online resources: Brungger/Brinker family, Andreas arrived in 1724 from Switzerland to Philadelphia , son ( Amer Rev war) Pvt Jacob and his son ( war of 1812) Captain Abraham Brinker, who migrated to Western PA, Larimer, Johnston family from Scotland to Adams and Westmoreland County, Sheriff Abraham McCandless family in Butler PA, Mary Burrell, Matilda Bolton, James E. Cole family from Pittsburgh, and Lousiville KY. Mom's Irish relatives in Philadelphia and Delaware and St Thomas Virgin Islands: McNamara's, McMahon's, Leonards, Evers/EiversHer Northern German ancestors are the Garlings, Widrowskys, Melanders I first traced in 1978 and from online site, I got all the way back to 1400's! They are from island of Fehmarn and Mecklenburg and also have links/spouses from Sweden and Latvia ( which was part of Russia). My Dad's ancestors (his father) are from Amalfi Coast of Italy and his mother Edith RUDDY and her father JAMES RUDDY of Ireland and his Grandmother Mary BARRETT of Manchester, England
