I grew up a few miles from Nelson Cemetery. My parents were George and Bertie Golden. They had 11 children. I have lots of family (Allen/Bowling/Burgess/Carter/Cooksey/Farmer/Golden/Graves/Jessup/Reynolds/Tigue) who are buried there. In June 2003, I took over as treasurer for the cemetery and with my sister's help, we got other people interested in the upkeep and the future of the cemetery. We formed a board and incorporated in January 2005. Our Decoration Day continues to be the first Sunday in June. Over the years, the cemetery has increased in size from 0.75 acres to 3.53 acres due to the generous donations from many people.
