Photographer, Genealogist with 40+ yrs. of research experience. DUVCW, Family Historian for STALTER-SMITH & Families Assn. researching STALTER, STALDER, MEYER, PLOOF, SMITH, EVANS, KELLEY, HUGHES, MCGUIRE, FLANAGAN, BLACK, ALLEN, YATES, YOUNG, SIDDALL, OLLER, PAUL, MARTIN, MAIBAUER and related families of NJ, NY, PA, CT, OH, OR, WI, in the US and in Wales, Ireland, England, Alsace (FR), and Switzerland.
Also, LUSZCZAK/LUSHCHAK/LUSCHAK, SOLYAK/SOLIAK/SOLIYAK, ZACOPEK/ZAKOPEC/ZACOPCI, CHOMETA, CHORNY, BOYKO/BOIKO, STRZESZWSKI/STRESKI, CASSANI of US, Canada, France, and Western Ukraine and Eastern Poland border areas; BOUFFARD, VALLERIX of France; BETTERIDGE, BATES of Canada; REBACK/RYBACK/RIBACK, GELFMAN, SCHOEN, FRANK of NY, NJ, US, Poland and Russia, and related families.

As a photographer, I experiment with various photo effects in an attempt to bring out headstone details invisible to the naked eye. Many mysteries regarding otherwise illegible inscriptions can be solved through this technique. Also, I find grave rubbings to be a highly valuable technique when documenting historical aspects of a headstone. When done properly and carefully, rubbings will reveal not only worn carvings, but will provide the actual shape and size of a marker. I have enjoyed doing this since my first visit to a cemetery as a child when my mother used it as an educational tool. It was good way to keep my mind occupied during what could have been a scary experience for me.

***PLEASE NOTE:

* First, I take a photo of each headstone and catalog the name and inscription on F.A.G. If you don't see a photo it's because I am in the process of tweaking it for best results.

* If I have entered a memorial, that means I have taken a photo already and will be uploading it shortly. Patience is a virtue. ;)

* IF I am unable to photograph a grave due to geographic location, I submit a photo request. IF I have not submitted a photo request, that means either:
(a) I have taken a photo to upload or
(b) the memorial is for my family member/friend I plan to visit and photograph in the near future.

As the photographer I HOLD THE COPYRIGHT TO ALL PHOTOGRAPHS THAT I HAVE UPLOADED TO THIS SITE. UNAUTHORIZED USE OF MY PHOTOS WITHOUT MY EXPLICIT WRITTEN PERMISSION IS A VIOLATION OF COPYRIGHT LAW AND F.A.G. TERMS OF SERVICE. MY PHOTOS ARE METATAGGED. IF I FIND ANY OF MY PHOTOS ON ANOTHER WEBSITE, PUBLICATION, BOOK, ETC. YOU WILL BE IN BIG TROUBLE! If you would like to use my photos for personal use, ASK AND YE SHALL RECEIVE.

Aside from researching my own family tree, I am currently working on cataloging burials at Pennington Methodist Church Burial Grounds, Mercer Co., NJ in my free time. While it is a rather small cemetery, many of the markers are extremely weathered and quite a few are either damaged or missing. Some of that area's original family names have been laid to rest there. It is my goal to eventually map out all of the known interrments and provide this valuable tool to researchers.

If you find any errors in my entries and can substantiate your claims, I am more than happy to correct and add.

AS A GENEALOGIST, MY GOAL IS TO PROVIDE ONLY ACCURATE INFO BACKED BY PROPER RESEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION. FACTS not fiction, please!

For privacy reasons, I do not have public comments enabled.

However, if you would like to contact me regarding a memorial, you may do so via a private message. Please let me know if you are related to your referenced memorial vs. simply documenting a cemetery or lineage so I can better understand the nature of your inquiry. I take a personal interest in each of my entries and love to hear from family members! :)

If for some reason you do not wish for your family member to be listed, I hate to tell you, but there's really not much you can do about it. (See reasons below.)

I will be happy to transfer or delete an entry I manage at a family's request. I completely understand...
The primary reason I got involved with F.A.G. is because, despite having many years of thorough research in my possession for PRIVATE use by MY own family, our family members and ancestors were being posted by total strangers and it really bugged us!! Just because the information exists doesn't mean it has to be posted publicly on the internet! While some of the posts were done by kind, dedicated fellow historians, much was posted without the facts! I signed up to put an end to that. There is way too much historic misinformation disseminated online by both well-intended volunteers and copycats who do not understand the importance of doing their own research. Also, there are unscrupulous data miners out to make a quick buck at our expense. I am out to stop them dead in their tracks. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I highly recommend that you follow in my footsteps. It can be a very healing and empowering experience. Peace :)
