IMPORTANT NOTE:
Some memorial entries were made by volunteers who we have not been able to contact in order to have updates or corrections made. In these cases, the management of a memorial may have been transferred to our historical society account in order to make the requested changes. If you discover one of your memorials has been transferred and you wish to regain management control, please click the EDIT tab and use the "Suggest A Correction" feature to request that we transfer the memorial management back to your account. Thank you for your contributions and we look forward to your return in the future!

The Chisago County Historical Society has its Research Library and offices in downtown Lindstrom, MN.

Our bookshelves are filled with publications relating to county history and its early pioneers, local events, cemetery burials, and family histories. We have a microfilm reader and copies of many early newspapers. All materials are for reference use in our library and can not be checked out.

Volunteers of the Society are bringing its extensive collection of cemetery interments online. This includes previously published listings, biographies of the people of Chisago County (19th Century), and all augmented with a new county-wide audit (begun in 2008) which includes photographs of all visible cemetery markers.

All of the Chisago County, MN cemeteries are represented on Find-A-Grave and include gate photos and GPS coordinates. It is estimated we will document about 25,000 interments. This project is about 85% completed as we head forward in 2013.

All pre-1995 interment records are online as of June 2011. We continue the photography and addition of post-1994 records in a coordinated effort among CCHS members and local photo volunteers.

Chisago County is located in the east-central region of Minnesota, about 40 miles NE of Minneapolis and St. Paul. This location was chosen by early European pioneers who settled here in the 1850's and established homesteads, farmlands, and businesses. The area has a strong German and Swedish heritage, although many other immigrant nationalities also created their homes and raised their families in Chisago County.

Community ties exist between descendants in their European homelands and the Chisago County communities in the form of "sister cities," identified for each town in our area.
