I began research on the families of my husband's mom and dad (Thomas W. Lumsden and Iola Boren). Since he is an only child with no living parents, grandparents or uncles and aunts, it has been a challenge. I'm just thankful that his great-aunt (Maggie Belle Lumsden) and his paternal grandmother (Lella Layden)saved pictures, notes, old envelopes, stamps, and a couple of scrapbooks.
