Aaron Cornelius was a captain of the English Privateer "Canary Bird" in the service of the English Crown. He left England during the reign of Charles 4th and settled in Vlissengen, Holland. Leaving Holland in the spring of 1639 and settled in Flushing , NY. His second wife was Patience and they had 2 children ( Elias and Mary). Aaron died in Feb 1695. His son Elias married Sarah Harned or Hanchet in 1701 and had 2 children -Elias (2nd) and Mary Eliza. Elias Senior died in 1718. His son Elias (2nd) was born in 1703 and married Elizabeth Rock Smith in 1725 in Flushing, NY. They had 6 children, one of which was Moses born in 1743 and who married Anna Carmen in 1766 or 67. They had 8 children, one of which was John,who was born in 1773. He married Hannah Darby. Moses died in 1796. Mary Levenia Cornelius married Peter Bowers in 1890, thus my 2nd Great Grandmother
