My ancestors emigrated from Germany and settled in the northeast Kansas counties of Atchison and Leavenworth. I grew up in Atchison. I became interested in genealogy in 2008 when I inherited my mother's collection of family photos, newspaper clippings and memorial leaflets.

My ancestors include the Kern, Wehking, Meinert, Moeller, Gieseking and Adrian families. My husband's ancestors include the Manning, Schlereth, Spainhower, Williams, Dawson, Coffey, Canaday, Jenson and Jones families.

I am also interested in the early settlers who formed St. Johns Lutheran Church near Easton, Kansas, and St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Nortonville, Kansas.
