I owned an Insurance Agency-J. William Thompson, Jr LTD. I sold life , health disability and group insurance. I graduated U of Wisconsin in 1958 and was in the SAE fraternity. I served in US Navy as LT. in Japan and Korea 1958-60. I am 32nd degree Mason. I taught Sunday school for twenty years at the River Forest and Glen Ellyn Presbyterian Church .I served as an elder and deacon of these churches. I served on the Hospice Board, Outreach Community Center board, and President of the Northern Illinois General Agent Association. I was a member of the Million Dollar Round table. Marti and Bill spend their summers in Egg Harbor WI (Door County), where they are active as associates of the Birchcreek Music Academy.

I SERVED AS COMMANDING OFFFICER OF KURE JAPAN AS AN ENSIGN, THEN TO PUSAN KOREA AS OPERATIONS OFFICER AT THE PORT OF PUSAN. I TAUGHT ENGLISH TO THE PUSAN UNIVERSITY ENGLISH CLUB.

I WAS IN THE US NAVAL RESERVE 1961-1969 AT GLENVIEW NAVAL AIR STATION IN AN ACORN UNIT. ONE YEAR WE WON THE OUTSTANDING NAVAL UNIIT FOR THE 9TH NAVAL DISTRICT. LINCOLN WAS WRONG,YOU CAN FOOL PEOPLE ALL THE TIME.
