Bio

I've been interested in cemeteries for as long as I can remember. I guess it started in 1984 (atleast 24 years ago) when I lost two of my grand parents. Growing up I also lived within walking distance of Pope Cemetery and I spent alot of my time there as a teen visiting people many I didn't know and a few that I did and sadly over the years many more of my friends would be buried there. I still try to visit them when I get a chance. I also enjoy going to visit other graveyards and cemeteries. It reminds me to appreciate the life I have and to live without fear because eventually I will end up here(Hillcrest Cemetery actually)! My parents have had a gravesite set aside for me and my husband even before either of us were born and it is a very wierd sensation to walk or even lay on your own grave. When all else is gone and and past away atleast I know I have my resting place set aside and my death will be the next chapter setting me free to live eternally with the Lord our God. Many people fear death because it is the unknown but as my grandmother used to say "It's not the dead ones you have to be afraid of, it's the live ones that'll get ya"! Cemeteries are a very special place to mourn but they are also a place of peace, serenity and beauty-I used to go to Pope to get away from it all-it was quiet and peaceful and I could sit and think without being bothered by all the distractions of the day and age. I also love to visit cemeteries at night but it is a rare occasion indeed when I get the chance to as most close at sundown. I hope to one day travel to other states to see other cemeteries and graveyards and I really want to visit the St. Louis' Cemeteries in Louisana and some of the graveyards in Salem, MA as they have older cemeteries dating back to the 1600's! The funerary artwork that are in some of the cemeteries are the most beautiful art you will ever see!
