Bio

I started getting interested in genealogy in the the 1970's. In the 1980's I became a genealogy librarian with my church for five years.
I think Find A Grave is a great site for anyone starting to get acquainted with their family history.
I've become disillusioned with most online genealogy sites because it seems all they want more is to take your money and not really give you what you want.
Besides Find A Grave, I feel that the only other site that is worth any salt is the one found in my church.
With my father's family, I've traced the Wilson's back to appox. 1790's (the Wilson's first came to Texas in the 1840's) and the Woodwards back to when they first came to America (the Carolinas) in 1569.Through my Grandmother Rella's family. I have traced them back to 1290 A.D.
With my mother's family, I've traced the Clary's back to approx. 1790's when they were in France. My maternal grandfather came to America in the 1890's via Galveston, Texas and my maternal grandmother (Burdick's) came to America via Galveston, Texas in approx. 1900. She immigrated here from the Czech Republic. My maternal grandmother is where my Jewish heritage is from.
I feel that all of us have an obligation to seek out and form bonds with all those that came before us, because if it were not for them we could not be here. Our ancestors are what we are.
