Bio

"The life and legacy of Gordon Guy Cooke, Sr., has been quite a saga to behold. A child prodigy
in the early 1900's, he was a gifted, brilliant musician and artist who went from the highest
reaches of wealth and success to the lowest depths of poverty and despair. (His battle with addiction to alcohol and opiates began when he was very young and accidently tipped-over a furnace of hot coals onto himself to which he'd been attempting to add additional coals.)

Gordon was a well-renowned musician who played in Vaudeville from age nine into his adulthood as well as having been a percussionist with the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra during his time. He repeatedly battled his disease of addiction throughout his short life of 59 years.

His life ended tragically, with his illness taking his life not only from him, but from those of us who loved him.

I have dedicated this book both to Daddy and to my children, grandchildren and to our family's
future generations to come . . . that his true genius and love for people and for music might
niether be denied nor forgotten due to his tragic illness."
