Bio

In traditional Christianity, as in Judiasm, the memory of those who have come before is something of great importance. In the Eastern Christian Church, after one has died, there will be memorial services in which hymns of "Memory Eternal" are sung.

Unfortunately, the "modern" world does not hold very much value in history or in the memory of people (and things and events) that have come before. Find-a-grave serves a purpose in helping those who may want to reconnect with their history (or history in general).

Remembering those who have come before not only serves as a link to our own history, but is a testament to that little bit of divinity that we carry in our souls and that death cannot squelch.

Much of these entries are fairly random, as genealogy and findagrave are hobbies that I only have a limited amount of time to work on.

As a note, 2013 has been a crazy year here - we've had deaths and illness in the family and a flooded house on top of just trying to keep up looking after a family and having to complete certain other projects. As such, my participation on Find-a-grave, for the time being, will be EXTREMELY limited, if at all. Thank you for understanding.

9/2014

I'm going to try to wade through any edits, requests, etc. in the next couple weeks. This is a quick snapshot of what life does in between:
Mid 2012 - moved cross-country
Late 2012 - close family member diagnosed with stage 4 cancer
Early 2013 - 2 close family members (including the one mentioned above) died.
Mid 2013 - Rental house flooded (landlord's fault) Legal stuff, 2 months of repairs, and careless contractors that managed to coat every surface in the house with thick dust, resulting in sick family.
Late 2013 - clean up & pack up of house. Hubby's employer (big fish in a small town) falters
Early 2014 - another cross-country move + more family changes. Hubby's former company goes bankrupt.

Just checked my "fun" email for the first time in a year and a half - 6500+ emails, the other one has 9000. I'll try to get to all the Find a grave stuff in the next few days...
