As for those that believe obituaries are a PRIVACY issue, maybe the family should have taken that into consideration prior to having their "private" information PRINTED IN A NEWSPAPER for the WORLD to see ... so I have no problem posting obituaries in the "bio" section of memorials // in my opinion there are a lot of disagreements here at FAG that are based on preference instead of FAG guidelines // regarding TRANSFERS, as long as they are not a relative of mine I have no problem transferring them just send me a request using the "edit" tab in the upper right hand corner of the memorial // if I have created a duplicate, please bring it to my attention because I assure you it was in error // I have found this site to be extremely helpful with my family research and have met a lot of wonderful people here at FindAGrave // there are a few members here at FAG that are not too pleasant but remember "majority rules" and the majority of FAG members are polite, thoughtful, and helpful // we also have to remember that we are all volunteers and although I'd love to spend all my time here at FAG, it's just not possible because like you I have a family that needs me and a job that I need so when someone does not take care of the SACs I request I do not get upset but instead send a friendly reminder after 30 days - I would feel terrible if I'd sent them a nasty message only to find out that the reason they'd been away from FAG was to care for a family member dying of cancer or something again, if there's anything I can do to help you please feel free to e-mail me.

Note: I'm here to help others and ensure FAG guidelines are followed. Yes, I am what some refer to as a "guard". Guidelines are created for a reason. Those that feel they do NOT have to respect them should NOT be a member of FAG, but instead they should create their own website and then they can set the guidelines. Those that ignore FAG's guidelines are the ones destroying FAG's wonderful reputation.

There are those that believe because the name of this website is FindAGrave that it's sole purpose should be just recording cemeteries, but I disagree as it has helped me a great deal with my family research and also because there's so much more than a name and dates behind that headstone.

There are also those that believe you should not create a memorial for someone that you do not have the burial information on.
EveryONE deserves to be remembered and what better way than a lovely memorial honoring their life. Our ancestors ALL left a footprint behind. Question is, can we find it and if so, can we tell the story behind it?

I am working on the Smith family as my grandmother was a Smith. Her name was marie melissa smith.any help is appriciated. you can contact me at [email protected] or [email protected]
