Bio

I am the mother of Jerome, Tobie and Beth and have 8 wonderful grandchildren. I retired in 2001 at the age of 65 and have enjoyed gardening and my grandchildren's activities. I became interested in preparing our family history for my grandchildren a couple of months ago and have become addicted to this web site and ancestry.com. I am especially interested in my Cherokee ancestry and that is how it all began. The Dawsons have quite a history with the Cherokee and I found my grandfather, Albert Henry Dawson on this website and then was able to trace my ancestry through him all the way back to Polly Ann Rogers. She was my 3rd Great Grandmother and the daughter of Alcie (Mary Ann) Vann, my 4th Great Grandmother, whose parents were John Joseph Vann and Wah-Li Otterlifter. It is fascinating and I have spent many late nights on the computer trying to complete our family tree and searching this site for all my relatives and adding those who were not included. My goal at this time is to find a picture and more information on my grandmother, Sarah Abbott Dawson. She died the year before I was born and I heard many stories about her but have never seen a picture of her. I have found long lost cousins and made new friends while searching.

*** Update 12-14-11

I finally found a picture of my Grandmother, Sarah Abbott Dawson last week in an old box of my Mom's pictures. My search is complete. I have included her picture on her memorial page.

*** UPDATE 09-07-12

I now have my Grandmother, Sarah Abbott Dawson, linked to her parents, her husband and all of her children.

*** UPDATE 12-30-13

I am now a Great-Grandmother. My oldest Granddaughter, Shannon, had a beautiful baby boy this year, Easton Brooks Townsend. I hope he will someday enjoy our family history.
