Born in Durham when dad was an Air Force ROTC student at UNC with the GI Bill. Distinguished Flying Cross in the Navy WWII. Grandpa got the Distinguished Service Cross in WWI. I went to 13 different schools and 2 colleges. Didn't move south until I was 30. Got interested in my dad's family a few years ago. Mom was a PA German. I joined the UDC last year with Vann Jasper McArthur, supplement with Minson McLamb this year, Whitfield Tart Sr. will be next, he was drafted in '64. Joining the DAR with Capt. James Pearsall. There are at least 25 Revolutionary War Patriots in dad's family, 5 Germans in mom's family with photos of their graves here. It's been interesting. My son is in the Army.
