I have been doing Genealogy for over 20 years now, I think following your gut is the best way to solve many issues of making things make sense! But also Verify everything and find a grave is a great site to help do that! Many dates can be fixed just by finding the grave marker. My fathers real surname is Ridings his Grandfather is Charles Ridings, He had a son with Amelia Lehman out of wedlock, in 1904, she named him Charles August Ridings. When he was around 15 years of age he took the last name George, his mothers Husband last name.
My Goals this year are to find My fathers Great Grandmothers records Louise Reichart from Germany. Research and find my husbands family Gemza/Graf in Poland, Those records are very difficult to find let alone read! And most importantly verify everything in my ANCESTRY TREES! So wish me luck as I wish you all luck in your searches!
