I became interested in genealogy after my father died in 2005. I joined ancestry.com and began an exciting journey into my past. My mother knew very little about her family and I have been able to trace her family back to countries of origin on both her maternal and paternal sides of the family. I have also written her family history. Now, I am in the process of writing my father's family history. Meeting many wonderful genealogists, some that are members of my family, along the way has been an added blessing. Some of the surnames in my family are Phillips, Hendon, Gunter, Porter, Peel, Kennedy, Hicks, Maxey, Thurston, Capps, McCrory and McElroy.
