Bio

I was born about a mile from Bechyn, went to the Bechyn School (District #27) and then my parents moved "across the field," to the "home place," which was about two miles from Bechyn. I have a lot of fond memories of the Bechyn area and have taken on a challenge to help my relatives locate their loved ones who were buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Olivia, St. John's Catholic Church near Morton, and St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery near North Redwood, Minnesota.

For the last ten years, I've made many trips to Minnesota and have spent days and days photographing all of the graves in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn, St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Olivia, St. John's Catholic Church near Morton, and many graves in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery near North Redwood. I'm currently in the process of posting all of these photos and any biographical information that I can locate for those individuals whose graves I have photographed. I have completed all of the memorials in St. Mary's in Bechyn, St. Aloysius in Olivia, and St. John's near Morton.

With the help of family, friends, and a bazillion hours spent researching the records at the Renville County Court House, Renville County Genealogical Society, Renville County Museum, and Redwood and Renville County Libraries; and researching Minnesota newspapers, Minnesota Census Records, and the Internet, I have gained the majority of the information that I used for the memorials posted for these cemeteries.

Additional sources of information were the following publications which were published by the St. Mary's Preservation Association of Bechyn:

(1) "Centennial 1879-1979, St. Mary's Catholic Church of Bechyn MN," publication date unknown;

(2) "St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Grave/Genealogy Information, Bechyn, Minnesota," publication date unknown;

(3) "Cemetery Guide, St. Mary's, Bechyn," 2004 Edition, 1 July 2004; and

(4) "The Church of St. Mary of Bechyn; History of Our Parish and Henryville Township," 2012.

Please feel free to write to me to express any questions or concerns that you have and/or to send me any information that you would like added to any of these memorials.
