Bio

Margaret is an archaeologist, the former research secretary for the Blair County Genealogical Society and recently completed a certificate program with Boston University studying to become a professional genealogist. She has launched her own business and is now serving clients. Eric is a retired industrial manager with an engineering degree. We both have a passion for genealogy.
Lately, Eric has had more time to devote to cemetery updates. We specialize in systematic updates of cemeteries, going through row by row and stone by stone and ensuring that everyone present is entered and photographed. We have done this on about 8 cemeteries and have added two small cemeteries to Find A Grave that were not listed.
This is a special note for people who have ancestors buried in Blair County, PA in either Eastlawn or the two large cemeteries, about 7 miles apart, that are both unfortunately named Grandview. Eric is working on two of these cemeteries outside Tyrone, PA.
The rest of this is from Eric Skrivseth: First an update on Grandview Tyrone. Grandview Tyrone has been worked through row by row and stone by stone. The photo requests are stubbornly numerous, leading me to believe that either some of those people are not buried in Grandview Tyrone or they don't have a legible, upright stone. There are a lot of toppled stones in this cemetery, and more than a few that are difficult to impossible to read. The other cemetery named Grandview in Blair County is quite large, so there are likely many photo requests for both cemeteries that are made for the wrong cemetery.
I met with some of the people who lead the association that runs the Grandview Cemetery and got some clarification of where the boundary between it and Eastlawn is located. The maintenance crew for Eastlawn had previously given me some misleading information. The southern portion of Eastlawn has no signage and connects directly with Grandview. Some of the rows of stones even line up with each other. This has been a source of confusion for years, with people who found their ancestor's stone posting their burial as being in Grandview, since that is what the only sign in the area says. People who found documents like burial records and obituaries were much more likely to list the burial in Eastlawn, but this was not 100% consistent either.
I initially put everyone in the southern section of Eastlawn into Grandview. I have now moved them all into Eastlawn in Find A Grave. Eastlawn and Grandview Tyrone are done. I've now moved on to other cemeteries.
