Bio

I am an amateur(at best) local history buff that is more into the "Where, Why, and How" of the people of the area that I (my parents, and grandparents) grew up at, which was once known as Mt.Vernon Michigan. I was born in 1973, but like to say I was raised in the early 1940's...I worked on a farm from 11-20 years of age...Knew every person living in a 3 mile radius...Borrowed and lended sugar, coffee, eggs, etc. with the neighbors...And needed to replace the exterior doorknobs to sell the house because we NEVER locked the doors and nobody knew where the keys were.
My great grandfather was sexton of Mt.Vernon Cemetery and growing up down the street I have come to know a lot about the cemetery itself. With age my curiosity about the ones in it has grown.
Any grave I might manage will most likely not be my relation and if someone feels a kinship to them more than I, they are certainly welcome to them. I feel awkward "correcting" people who may have a name or date misspelled, or adding photos with the inscription written managed by others, but I do it if it may help someone else's research. I appreciate any and all EFFORT everyone does on here! It may be enjoyable but it IS WORK.
