Bio

Well I don't know how good this is going to be but I will try to let people know a little of what I have done all my life and now.
First off, I have been in the Marine corps, Mechanic in motor transport and saw 12 foreign countries so I love my America, when I got out I went into heavy equipment for 30 years and loved it, I ran just about all of it in road construction and aggregate plants and also an X ray quality welder and have emphysema because of it but I am still going strong. I retired when I was 661/2 yrs old and went nuts so I went back to work until I was 69½ years old, I worked for Safeway for 18 years, I checked out the money I was making and what I got to take home and all, so that is why I retired so young, the government took it all and taxed my social security besides, I was married and have one daughter, with whom I get along real well.
I started into genealogy in 1995, my sister that had started had quit doing it so I thought someone should and I was the only one left that would, still working full time and then some at this time. I have a database of 45,000 and a working database of 25,000, I separated the smaller one and only go back to 1500. I am working full time as a volunteer at a genealogy center in Mesa, AZ and have been for 5 years, since I retired, I love it and work with both PC's and Mac (Apple computers), I swore when I was a little younger I would never buy one of those pieces of junk, I will have to admit that I have had to eat those words, I love them and I have good PC's also. I work from 7 to 1 on Mondays and Fridays, 7 to 3 on Tues, Wed, & Thurs., the two Sat I work a month is from 8 to 5, if there is anything at our other facility such as a web cast I will work until about 8:30 to 9 that night and that is about once a week, I am supervisor for Tues and Wed. and make out the Schedules for 3 days a week and also the monthly schedules. I love it and I don't know how I know so much about computers, either PC or Mac but I am good, there are a lot that are better but I do anything I need to with either one and I have become more in favor of the Mac's, I have to buy programs to run the window based genealogy programs because they don't just run on Mac, the ones that most people here use I should say, yes there are some good ones that do. God bless and thanks for all every one does to help us in our endeavors for knowing who and what are families are and how they had to live. Hope this isn't too much. I have been a member of Find a grave for less than a year but love it.
