Lee grew up on Nemahbin Lake in the town of Summit. The son of Stafford O Holle and Lucille Thompson. Lucille died when Lee was two and his Dad was widowed with four sons; Stafford EM, Stuart R, Roy A and Lee Thompson Holle. HIs Dad married Jenny Bartol when Lee was 5. Lee married Christine Mueller Lange and Sept 11, 1965 and they had over 50 years of marriage before she died. They have a son Jeffrey Lange Holle and a daughter, Lynn Michelle Holle Ankney. Lee married Clara (Connie) Consuelo Calderon on June 12, 2021.
