Bio

Family lines that I am researching are porous due to adoption, orphans (Orphan Train to Nebraska), several divorces and/or deaths followed by occasionally more than one re-marriage.

Born in central New York State, I lived there for nearly 50 years. I return there, from Arizona to visit family members and continue my quest for documentation, to photograph the old homestead sites, homes, gravesites, tombstones etc..

The bulk of my ancestral research covers Jefferson Co., Oswego Co., Broome Co., New York.

Some of the dominant surnames are SPRAGUE, BROWN, WENTWORTH, YOUNGS, WEST, HAVENS, CUMMINGS, O'DELL, MORRISSEY, BAUM, PROUTY, GENTILE, SMITH, BAKER, ROBBINS, O'HARE, HECKLE, NEWMAN, SCHLESINGER, GILMAN, GAMELSKY.

Recent DNA samples were submitted by me for mtDNA and my father for Y-DNA in an effort to fill in the many gaps mostly in the SPRAGUE line.

Carol Jean Sprague is my maiden name.
